Flight Types

Paragliding at the Sicó Outdoor Centre is a unique opportunity to see the region from the sky, where the landscape takes on a new scale and meaning. In the Serra de Alvaiázere, you will find a region that offers ideal conditions for paragliding, suitable for both licensed pilots and specialised companies looking for technical flights with short thermals and tight approaches, as well as for adventurers looking for free flights or perhaps a first tandem experience with a licensed pilot.

Either way, the feeling is unbeatable. As soon as you leave the slope behind, an almost sacred silence descends, awakening the vastness of the Sicó landscape: miniature villages, farmland forming geometric patterns, the glimmer of the ocean on clear days and the “widest viewpoint in Portugal”, in the words Miguel Torga used to describe the imposing Serra de Alvaiázere. And you? If you love extreme sports, take the invitation to paraglide over this mosaic of nature and stone!

Natural and technical conditions of the Serra de Alvaiázere

The Serra de Alvaiázere is a favourite spot for paragliders. As well as offering the perfect setting for free flights with complete freedom and safety, it has easy access, a drop of more than 200 metres between the take-off and landing zones, favourable winds (from the northeast, east and southeast) and thermals — rising warm air currents, especially in spring and summer, that allow for longer. more dynamic flights.

Other Experiences to Explore at the Sicó Outdoor Centre

After flying over Sicó, you won’t want to stop there. The region is still wating for you, with many more ways to experience it: now with your feet firmly on the ground, or almost.

In the same valleys and mountains where paragliding took you to the heights, you can take on technical trail running routes, explore rural paths and mountain slopes by bike or follow hiking trails that connect nature, history and heritage. That’s what the Sicó Outdoor Centre is all about: a constant invitation to discover, at different heights and speeds.

Come down from the sky and choose your next way to explore this region — the adventure continues!
